In their Review, S. N. and G. A. Baker give an outlook on the future of nanolights. How are such nanomaterials produced and what potential applications are there? In a Minireview, J. A. Foster and J. W. Steed discuss cavities in supramolecular gels. The Highlights deal with the functionalization of methane in anaerobic microorganisms and the oxidation of methane at dicopper centers.

In the Communications section, S. Nagase et al. reveal a simple model of stability for conjugated carbon hybrid materials (see picture) and verify it computationally. J. L. Major Jourdan and S. M. Cohen describe a metalloproteinase inhibitor that is activated by reactive oxygen species and that protects the blood-brain barrier. A. Studer et al. succeeded in the synthesis of 1,2,3-trisubstituted indanes by highly diastereoselective palladium-catalyzed oxyarylation of indenes.
