Angewandte Chemie 8/2016: A Rival for Platinum

Angewandte Chemie 8/2016: A Rival for Platinum

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, S. Guo et al. review earth-abundant nanomaterials for oxygen reduction. What are the properties that make these materials rival classical platinum-based catalysts? In a Minireview, J. R. Coombs and J. P. Morken summarize catalytic enantioselective functionalization of terminal alkenes. In his Editorial, R. Zare makes two suggestions for best practices in scientific publishing.

In the Communications section, M. Fujita et al. show how to determine the absolute configuration of a pseudo-symmetric natural product by the crystalline sponge method (see picture). P. R. Schreiner et al. present the enantioselective Dakin–West reaction, and P. E. Dawson et al. confirm that the trimerization of the HIV transmembrane domain in lipid bilayers modulates broadly neutralizing antibody binding.
