In this week’s Review, Q. Wang et al. give insights into the syntheses of nano- and microstructures at fluid interfaces. Which organizational processes and reactions lead to hierarchical structures? The Highlights deal with compounds with Si-C triple bonds, hydrogen bonding to metals, and virus-like particles with a hydrophobic core.

In the Communications section, O. Dopfer et al. discuss the IR spectrum of the phenyl cation. O. F. van den Brink et al. demonstrate how the size and conformation of poly(methyl methacrylate) molecules can be determined by a mass spectrometric technique. J. Yang and T. D. Tilley present an efficient hydrosilylation of carbonyl compounds by using a simple iron amide catalyst. I. S. Choi et al. found that the growth of neurons on alumina substrates depends on the pitch of the surface nanostructure (see picture).
