New Production Facility for Coating Raw Materials in Shanghai

Bayer MaterialScience plans to construct a new world-scale production facility for the coating raw material isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) at its integrated site in Shanghai, China. IPDI is used as a raw material primarily in high-grade polyurethane coatings for applications such as for automotive finishing. The planned investment volume is EUR 65 million. The inauguration of the plant is scheduled for 2015.

The project is part of the company’s comprehensive investment program with a total volume of approx. EUR 1 billion for the expansion of its production capacities in China. By that, the total investment of Bayer MaterialScience in China is increased to more than EUR 3 billion.
