Borealis announces that it has fully acquired GPN SA, France’s largest nitrogen fertilizer manufacturer, from the Total Group. The around 760 employees employed at the production sites in Grandpuits, Grand-Quevilly, and Gratecap as well as at the Paris office will all be transferred to Borealis.

Additionally, Borealis closed an agreement with Total S.A., France, to acquire its majority interest of 56,86 % in Rosier S.A. Rosier is a mineral fertilizer manufacturer with two production facilities in Moustier in Belgium and Sas van Gent in the Netherlands. It markets its products in more than 80 countries worldwide and generated sales of €278 million in 2012.

Borealis was formed in 1994 with the merging of Neste and Statoil. It is owned by the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) of Abu Dhabi (64 %) and by OMV Aktiengesellschaft, the leading energy group along the European growth belt (36 %). The company aims to become the leading provider of polyolefins, base chemicals, and fertilizers.
