Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. was awarded a contract by CMPC Group’s Celulose Riograndense Ltda. for the design and supply of an integrated chlorine-dioxide plant for its pulp expansion project in Guaiba, Río Grande do Sul, Brazil. Empresas CMPC is the fourth largest pulp supplier in the world. Chlorine dioxide is a potent oxidizing agent used, for example, in bleaching

The plant is anticipated to produce 60 ton/d (55 metric tons per day) of chlorine dioxide.
Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is designing and engineering the plant, supplying key equipment and materials including Jacobs’ proprietary Chemetics equipment, and providing technical services for plant erection, operator training, commissioning and testing.
