GS Engineering & Construction Co. (GS E&C) has chosen the engineering and technology company Metso to supply automation for the Dangjin 4 Biomass Power Plant currently under construction in Dangjin City, about 70 km southwest of Seoul.
Once completed in 2015, the 105 MW plant will be the largest of its kind in Asia. It will be fueled with a mix consisting of 80 % palm kernel shells and 20 % coal. Metso says that with its advanced automation applications, it is possible to control even difficult fuel mixes with varying fuel ratios.
