The Verband der Chemischen Industrie e. V. (VCI, German chemical industry association) increaded its scholarship program by 1.75 million EUR because of the International Year of Chemistry. The funds will thereby spend 2011 more than 11 million EUR on the promotion of basic research, on the next generation of scientists and on the improvement of chemical education.

„Investments in the next generations of scientists is surely well spend money for the growth of the national economy “, sais Dr. Gerd Romanowski, managing director of the fund of the chemical industry (FCI). Only with very well trained scientists, engineers and technicians Germany can be successful and internationally competitive.
