Marko Hapke, University of Linz, Austria, and Leibniz Institute for Catalysis (LIKAT), Rostock, Germany, talks about group 9 metals in catalysis and his fascination with chemistry.


Marko Hapke
studied chemistry at the University of Oldenburg, Germany, where he received his Ph.D. in 2002 under the supervision of Arne Lützen and Peter Köll. He was a postdoctoral researcher with John F. Hartwig at Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA. Since 2006, he has been a researcher at LIKAT. He completed his habilitation at the University of Rostock, Germany, in 2015. Since 2015, he is Professor for Catalysis at the University of Linz and still serves as an external Group Leader at LIKAT.


Hapke has received a Ph.D. fellowship from the German state of Lower Saxony and a research fellowship from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). He has recently co-edited a book on Cobalt Catalysis in Organic Synthesis: Methods and Reactions.
