EurJOC – Lives in Chemistry Virtual Symposium: Larry E. Overman

Highlighting the outstanding contributions of Larry E. Overman, University of California, Irvine, USA, and to celebrate the launch of his autobiography, published as part of the book series “Lives in Chemistry.”

Larry Overman will introduce the book in this virtual symposium, followed by talks from two of his former group members, Martin Oestreich, TU Berlin, Germany, and Nobel Prize winner David MacMillan, Princeton University, USA. The event is moderated by the Editors of European Journal of Organic Chemistry (EurJOC) Anne Nijs and Pilar Calleja Ramos.

Larry Overman’s research interests include the development of new chemical reactions with a focus on transition metal-catalyzed syntheses of organic natural products. He is particularly associated with the Overman rearrangement and Claisen rearrangements of allylic alcohols for the synthesis of allylic trichloroacetimidates.
