Marie Curie Exhibition in Genua Showcases Her Italian Travels

The exhibition “Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Italy: Three Journeys, One Passion”, opened yesterday in Genoa at the Biblioteca Civica Berio, Via del Seminario 16 (free admission). The exhibition highlights Maria Skłodowska-Curie’s travels through Italy and features documents, photos, and quotations in Italian and English that reveal both her scientific work and personal experiences. It will run until October 11.

The opening program included a lecture by Professor Marcin Górecki of the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), Warsaw, on Curie’s Italian episodes, a theatrical performance “The Imaginary Dialogue between Frederic Chopin and Maria Skłodowska-Curie”, and the short film “Maria Skłodowska-Curie in Italia. Alla ricerca del radio.” Guests included Giacomo Montanari, Councillor for Culture of Genoa; Giuseppe Taró, Honorary Consul of Poland; Damian Syjczak, Deputy Director of NAWA; and Valeria Zanini, President of the Italian Society of Historians of Physics and Astronomy, alongside members of the Genoese Polish community. Previously shown in Warsaw, Poland, the exhibition will next visit Rome (September 26 – 27) and Pisa (October) in Italy, and Paris in France, offering chemists a unique glimpse into Curie’s life, work, and scientific journeys across Europe. For details on what’s on display and the dates (as currently known) see here:
