Science Forum Chemistry 2025

Science Forum Chemistry 2025

Largest Interdiscilinary event of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh, German Chemical Society)

The Science Forum Chemistry is the follow-up format to the WiFo (Wissenschaftsforum). Prepare yourself for first-class science, exclusive awards, and interdisciplinary discussions. The conference language is English.

The Science Forum Chemistry 2025, themed “Thinking across borders,” aims to transcend disciplinary, institutional, and national boundaries to collectively address chemistry’s major challenges. The event will feature renowned international speakers, interdisciplinary sessions, and strategic dialogues—including a joint session with the ACS on sustainability—while marking the 200th anniversary of KIT and strengthening international collaborations through renewed and new agreements with European chemical societies.

Rethinking Chemistry – we need chemistry to tackle global challenges such as climate change, energy transformation and feeding more and more people around the world. But it’s not just about making existing methods and processes better and more sustainable. In many areas, we have to break completely new ground, throw the old ways overboard and develop something new – in other words, completely rethink them.

For this reason, the GDCh Executive Board decided in 2023 to declare Rethinking Chemistry the GDCh motto. Rethinking Chemistry is intended to provide space for new thoughts and ideas on all topics to which chemistry can and must make valuable contributions. (watch a video what Presidents of other Societies think about Rethinking Chemistry)
