In this issue, C. Detrembleur et al. review exovinylene cyclic carbonates as multifaceted CO2-based building blocks in chemistry and polymer science. In a Scientific Perspective, S. Vignolini et al. wonder whether the limited palette for photonic block-copolymer materials is a historical problem or a practical limitation.

In the original research section, H. Wu et al. demonstrate a strategy for the development of far-red and near-infrared ultrafluorogenic tetrazine bioorthogonal probes which overcomes spectral dependence (see picture). J. Streuff et al. succeeded in a catalytic asymmetric β-oxygen elimination. H. Fuwa et al. present a tandem macrolactone total synthesis of (−)-exiguolide, and C. Giansante et al. obtained colloidal bismuth chalcohalide nanocrystals.
