Angewandte Chemie 31/2023: Interactions

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Tatjana N. Parac-Vogt et al. review interactions between polyoxometalates and proteins for applications in (bio)chemistry and medicine. Giorgio Bencivenni et al. summarize enantioselective strategies for the synthesis of N–N atropisomers. The Minireviews deal with thermo- and photocatalytic activation of CO2 in ionic liquids nanodomains (Muhammad I. Qadir, Jairton Dupont) as well as hybrid monomer design in the development of polymers for circularity and performance (Eugene Y.-X. Chen et al.).

In the original research section, Yu Fang et al. model the enzyme specificity by molecular cages through regulation of reactive oxygen species. Xiaodong Shi et al. succeeded in the enantioselective synthesis of 1,2-dihydropyridines through gold-catalyzed amine cascade addition to diyine-ene. Markus R. Heinrich et al. connected ruthenium photocatalysis to 1,2-dioxetane-mediated chemiluminescence and obtained a versatile combination for optical detection and read-out (see picture). Xiong Wen (David) Lou et al. found that bimetal-organic framework nanoboxes accelerate redox kinetics and polysulfide trapping for lithium–sulfur batteries.
