Angewandte Chemie 4/2024: Sustainable Alternatives

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, Martin Grininger et al. summarize how acyl carrier proteins direct fatty-acid and polyketide biosynthesis in a Review. The Minireviews deal with biocatalysts from specialized metabolism (Christian Hertweck et al.), formic acid salts in photochemistry (Jadab Majhi, Gary A. Molander), as well as organosodium chemistry as a sustainable alternative to organolithium reagents.

In the original research section, Jonas Warneke et al. show how to control intermediates and products by combining droplet reactions and ion soft landing (see picture). Paul . Maggard et al. switched lead for tin in PbHfO3 to obtain SnHfO3, an orthorhombic rather than cubic perovskite. Katalin Barta et al. developed clean synthetic strategies to biologically active molecules from lignin, a green path to drug discovery. Zhiyun Lu et al. present an ambient phosphor with high efficiency and long lifetime in poly(methyl methacrylate) through charge-transfer-mediated triplet exciton formation for photolithography applications.
