In this content you should writing your own explanation of what a flame is and what is going on in there. This should be done in a way that an 11-year-old would find intelligible, maybe even fun.

The Center for Communicating Science will try out the entries on real 11-year-olds from around the world and see which work best. The deadline is midnight Eastern time, April 2, 2012.

The Center for Communicating Science is a multidisciplinary center based in the School of Journalism at Stony Brook University, New York, USA. The Center is dedicated to helping current and future scientists learn to communicate clearly and vividly with the public.
