A dibaryon is a particle made up of six quarks. It has a lifetime of 10–23 s.

Researchers have for decades searched without success for exotic bound states comprising more than three quarks. In 2011, 120 scientists from eight countries discovered the existence of a dibaryon with experiments performed at the accelerator COSY of the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. In 2013, they were able to verify these findings.
