In this issue, H. Schmidbaur and H. G. Raubenheimer review excimer and exciplex formation in gold(I) complexes through aurophilic interactions. What makes such excimers useful in photoredox catalysis? The Minireviews deal with early transition metal catalysis for copolymerizations of olefins and polar monomers (T. J. Marks et al.) and copper-based catalysts for electrochemical CO2 reduction (N. Hodnik et al.).

polymerization of diphenylacetylenes with tungsten(VI) chloride and tetraphenyltin and propose an alternative mechanism (see picture). J. Micklefield et al. engineered orthogonal methyltransferases to create alternative bioalkylation pathways. L. Ackermann et al. succeeded in the rhodium-catalyzed electrooxidative C–H olefination of benzamides, and Y. Jia et al. describe a total synthesis of (−)-glaucocalyxin A.
