In the last issue of 2020, K. F. Jensen et al. continue to review autonomous discovery in the chemical sciences and give an outlook. The Minireviews deal with nanobiotechnology in mRNA delivery (Y. Wang, C. Yu), synthetic tailoring of zigzag-edged graphene nanostructures (J. Liu, X. Feng), and the removal of organic micropollutants from water by macrocycle-containing polymer networks (J. L. Sessler et al.). In an Editorial, Angewandte Chemie’s Executive Committee lay out plans to redefine the journal as an inclusive home for excellent science.
In the original research section, O. Y. Yuen and C. M. So describe ligand control of site-selective arylation of α,β-unsaturated ketones with (hetero)aryl halides (see picture). C. K. Williams et al. present bio-based and degradable block polyester pressure-sensitive adhesives. R. Cao et al. succeeded in the highly selective CO2 electroreduction to CH4 by in situ generated Cu2O sites on a conductive MOF. A. Ghosh et al. found nanomotors to sense local physicochemical heterogeneities in tumor microenvironments.
