Angewandte Chemie 29/2021: Multistep Procedures

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue’s Reviews section, B. Z. Tang et al. discuss innovative synthetic procedures for luminogens showing aggregate-induced emission, B. Esser et al. summarize conjugated nanohoops incorporating donor, accepter, hetero- or polycyclic aromatics, and J.-Q. Yu et al. examine C–H activation as strategic and tactical disconnections for C–C bond construction. The Minireviews deal with aerobic oxidation of organic molecules by multistep electron transfer (J.-E. Bäckvall et al.) and pseudo natural products (H. Waldmann et al.).

In the original research section, K. Tatsumi et al. present the synthesis of a nitrogenase PN-cluster model with a [Fe8S7(μ-Sthiolate)2] core from the all-ferric [Fe4S4(Sthiolate)4] cubane synthon (see picture). W.-H. Huang et al. succeeded in the quantitative nano-amperometric measurement of intravesicular glutamate content and its sub-quantal release by living neurons. I. Zebger et al. explored the structure and function of redox intermediates in [NiFe]-hydrogenases by in situ spectroscopy. M. K. Brown et al. describe a modular synthesis of a versatile double-allylation reagent for complex diol synthesis.
