Angewandte Chemie 7/2013: Everything under Control

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, B. Breit et al. review the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of allylic alcohols. What applications are there in organic syntheses, including that of natural products? In a Minireview, J. Q. Xiao et al. discuss the performance of nanostructured electrodes for pseudocapacitor applications. The Highlights deal with high-resolution structures of gene-regulating cobalamin riboswitches (R. Micura et al.) and decarbonylative C–H coupling reactions (R. Martin et al.). C. Moberg gives an insight into the development of chemical research in Sweden in an Editorial.

In the Communications section, A. Petri-Fink et al. demonstrate how to control the surface chemistry of gold nanorods and their complete detoxification (see picture). R. R. Schrock, A. Hoveyda et al. describe molybdenum-based catalysts for Z-selective synthesis of a macrocylic alkene by ring-closing metathesis. M. Murrie et al. present a directed synthesis of high-nuclearity MnIII-MnII-CuII heterometallic transition-metal complexes. R. Nesper et al. discovered a Zintl phase with a field-induced inversion of the magnetoresistive effect.
