Nachrichten aus der Chemie, the membership magazine of the GDCh, annually publishes trend reports. This year 64 German authors from university and industry spot and compile an overview of inspiring work and recent trends in the most important chemical disciplines, Biochemistry, Chemical Education, Food Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Technical and Theoretical Chemistry.

Topics include epigenetics, carbohydrate-based therapeutics, use of inorganic compounds in pharmacy, efficient luminous materials, fluid-enhanced crystal engineering, cytosolic DNA sensors, metal-carben complexes in biocatalysis, photochemical cyclization, ionic liquids used for batteries, supercondensors, fuel cells or as lubricant and for metal deposition, Lord of the Rings in quantum mechanics, correlation for large systems, multicomponent reactions, provision of raw materials, energy supply.

The authors cite more than 770 international articles representing last year’s trends. Although the reports are written in German, this large list of recent literature may also inspire international readers.
