Prof. Marcello Tiecco, Department of Organic Chemistry, Pharmacy Faculty, University of Perugia, Italy, has announced his retirement. Tiecco served as one of the Editors of the European Journal of Organic Chemistry (EurJOC) in 2001–2002, where he helped to shape the newly amalgamated journal into what it has become today. He continued to serve on the Editorial Board of EurJOC during the period 2003–2008.

Marcello Tiecco, born in Perugia  in 1936, studied chemistry at the University of Bologna, where he completed his studies cum laude in 1960. In 1963 and under the supervision of Prof. D. H.
