Christian Kullmann (47) succeeds Klaus Engel (60) as Chairman of Evonik’s Executive Board. Engel was originally appointed to the Board of Management of what was then Degussa in 2007, becoming Chairman in 2009.

Christian Kullmann, born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, in 1969, studied economic history at Hanover University, Germany, from 1990–1994. he started working at Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, held various positions in the General Secretariat of Dresdner Bank, Frankfurt am Main, including Head of Public Relations/Public Affairs at the bank’s Corporate Center. He became Head of Communications & Board Office, RAG Aktiengesellschaft, Essen, before joining Evonik Industries AG, Essen, in 2007. Kullmann was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board in May 2016. His responsibilities include strategy, M&A, Legal, Communications and Investor Relations.

 

Harald Schwager (56) will be joining Evonik on September 1 as the new Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board. He will be responsibile for chemicals and innovation. Schwager is a chemist and a member of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF, which he will be leaving in May.

 

Ralph Sven Kaufmann (51), Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Evonik, will be leaving the company by mutual and amicable agreement on June 30, 2017, before the scheduled end of his term of office. The COO position on the Executive Board will not be filled again.
