The classification and labelling of chemicals is changing. You can test your knowledge with a quiz on the hazard symbols and pictograms.

A hazard pictogram provides information about the damage a particular substance or mixture can cause to human health or the environment. The Classification and Labelling (CLP) Regulation of the European Union (EU) has introduced a new classification and labelling system for hazardous chemicals in the European Union. The pictograms have changed and are in line now with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System.

The new pictograms will replace the old orange square symbols. Since 1 December 2010, some substances and mixtures have already been labelled according to the new legislation, but the old pictograms can still be on the market until 1 June 2017.
