The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2015 have been published. The top spot is being held by the University of Tokyo, Japan. However, the overall number of Japanese universities in the top 100 has dropped from 22 in 2013 to 19 universities this year as a result of national budget cuts.

Meanwhile, research investment in China has shown results, with 21 universities located in mainland China in the top 100, up from 15 in 2013. The rankings are based on the same criteria as the THE World University Rankings.
