Angewandte Chemie 34/2021: Chemical Strategies

Author: Angewandte Chemie International Edition

In this issue, J. K. B. Cahn and J. Piel review the single-cell toolbox for microbial natural products research. How can challenges to study uncultivated microbes be overcome? The Minireviews deal with hematite photoanodes for water oxidation (G. R. Patzke et al.) and chemical strategies for making strong graphene materials (T. Zhou, Q. Cheng).

In the original research section, B.-L. Su et al. present a TiSe2–graphite dual ion battery. A. L. Braga et al. introduce KIO4-mediated selective hydroxymethylation/methylenation of imidazo-heteroarenes. M. Beller et al. succeeded in the ambient hydrogenation and deuteration of alkenes using a nanostructured Ni-core–shell catalyst (see picture). A. Studer et al. describe a photo click reaction of acylsilanes with indoles, and N. Sojic et al. developed shadow electrochemiluminescence microscopy of single mitochondria.
