Frustrated Lewis Pairs Based on Carbon⋅⋅⋅Carbon+ Tetrel Bonds: A DFT Study

Abstract The ability of Triangulenium (TA+) compounds to form Frustrated Lewis Pairs (FLPs) with N‐HeteroCycle Carbenes (NHCs) is analysed in this manuscript at the PBE0‐D3/def2‐TZVP level of theory. We have used six TA+‐based moieties, three presenting similar bridging groups (O (trioxo), −CH2 (triaryl) and −NH (triaza)) and another three mixing, O, −CH2 and NH moieties. Spectral Signatures of Oxidation States in a Manganese‐Oxo Cubane Water Oxidation Catalyst

Abstract We report IR and UV/Vis spectroscopic signatures that allow discriminating between the oxidation states of the manganese‐based water oxidation catalyst [(Mn4O4)(V4O13)(OAc)3]3−. Simulated IR spectra show that V=O stretching vibrations in the 900–1000 cm−1 region shift consistently by about 20 cm−1 per oxidation equivalent. Abstract A thiophene‐fused 1,4‐diazapentalene (TAP) was rationally designed and synthesized as a C=N‐containing 4n π‐electron system that exhibits restored antiaromaticity impaired by the doping with C=N bonds. Abstract The synthesis of iodine(I) complexes with either benzoimidazole or carbazole‐derived sp2 N‐containing Lewis bases is described, as well as their corresponding silver(I) complexes.
